About our Woodthorpe Hearing Clinic.

We are delighted to be reopening our Woodthorpe branch after over a decade away from our much-loved clinic. We are back, and we've invested in the clinic to create a purpose-built, soundproof hearing health care centre.

Our new Woodthorpe hearing care clinic provides a full range of hearing health care services from hearing tests, hearing aids, ear wax removal service and tinnitus management. The clinic is led by Abigail Sisson and here are a few quick-fire questions we asked Abigail so you can get to know her a little bit better.

Abigail - how long have you been an audiologist and where did you train?

I began my career in audiology in 2014 training as an assistant audiologist in the Adult Audiology department at the Royal Derby Hospital. It wasn’t long before I realised audiology was a specialism for me and decided to undertake the BSc Healthcare Science (Audiology) degree in my spare time to qualify as an audiologist (and haven’t looked back since!). I worked for just under 8 years in the NHS which is where I learned my expertise.

Describe your job in three words

Rewarding, varied, caring

Who would you most like to swap places with for the day?

My greyhound Chloe, to experience her life of being waited on hand and foot!

What’s the best thing about working for Arnold Hearing?

There are many reasons, but the main ones are being able to offer continuity of care and also being able to offer the latest technology whilst still providing a gold standard level of care to patients. The morals of the company are the reason I decided to join the team and I love the flexibility allowing me to spend as much time as required with patients to help them on their hearing journey.

What did you want to be as a kid?

Vet or anything working with animals

What are the values that drive you?

I care passionately about helping others which is the reason I decided to pursue a career in healthcare. I love seeing the difference I can make and having the opportunity to improve the quality of life of my patients.

Your top 3 favourite podcasts/books

Bella Novela by Charlotte Harrison-King, anything written by Sophie Kinsella and Marian Keyes.

When you are not working what can we find you doing?

Spending time with my fiancé Fraser and our dog Chloe. Camping (fair weather only!), renovating our house, open water swimming and reading.
